Lord Amherst Public House and Wine Lounge in Amherstburg

Food was pretty good, but not a very extensive menu. Choices are limited, and if you don't like English style food then choices are EXTREMELY limited. But the service was friendly and fast.

English style Fish and ChipsDropped in for lunch midweek when it wasn't too busy and ordered the delicious fish and chips, a nice thick cut of haddock. It came with home cut fries, home made tartar sauce, and home made coleslaw, all EXCELLENT! I will be back for more, Thanks!

We went here for the very first time and it was on a Sunday, but this place does not seem to ever quiet down, it was very busy the entire time that we were there and when we left. Unfortunately due to it being so busy and because they only have two servers, there is a long wait for service and I think they make a lot of their food fresh (except for their slow cooked meats), because it was quite a long wait for our food too, but when we received our food, it was well worth the wait for sure! So, if you don't mind waiting for your food, this place is the one for you!

When we make it out to Amherstburg, always a must stop. We miss Angela.

Really good Fish N Chips! There were a few choices and we order 2 types and split them. The beer battered won for our favorite but they were both delicious!

This is the spot!This is the spot to have a quick cold one, or if you would like to grab some grab after work or at anytime really. They are a great bunch that work here. The appetizers are awesome, fries are alright. Beer is always cold and they sometimes stay open later so if you get off work later, they are there for you to grab one!I'll be back for sure!

The server was doing her best, but as she was alone the wait for ordering was too long for a Saturday afternoon. Considering a Festival was taking place right outside their front door more staff should have been pulled in.The food was well made, fresh and hot when it arrived. The nachos were very interesting.

Best perch dinner I ever had. The cheddar and Ale soup was awesome, and the half-price bottle of house wine topped it off.

Went here with a group of 5 after touring the town a bit, was a great place to stop and get a bite to eat with a pint. I Had the Lord Amherst Burger which was great, pretty sure they make there own beef patties rather than just purchasing them. My Girlfriend had the Fish and Chips and swears by them, smaller portion than some Fish and Chips plates but apparently better than most in taste. The other dish that was tried was the Pulled Pork Burger, which got nothing but compliments as well, Their pub food is a nice change from the average pub the city. Business was a little slow when we came here as it was Wednesday at noon, but the service was still fairly good the waitress was very nice and friendly. The only issue we had was that it seemed quite a bit of a wait between ordering and food on the table, but it was well worth it when we got it. If I ever come back to this small town I would definitely eat here again.

Waitress recommended the Angry Orchard Rosé cider and became one of my favourite drinks. Definitely recommend it if you don’t like the original Somersby due to it being on the sweeter side. The quality of food was really good. I had the sweet potato fries and split the fish tacos. You definitely gets your money’s worth here. Couldn’t have asked for a better waitress she was attentive, accommodating and polite.

Dec.12 2019. Around 2 in the afternoon Slipping me and my girl have been going here for years. The ragular two service girls have always been pleasant. It seems they have hired some heavy girl with no personality. Felt pushed out and wasn't even busy. To bad we really enjoyed the food and service always friendly. After today's experience will seriously consider not going back.

Staff pleasant and attentive but one of 4at our table had symptoms of food poisoning. Beef on Yorkshire puddings was not hot. Fish n chips batter soggy....but fish tasted ok. Coleslaw room temp with cream sauce and onion? Big no no. Shame.

This is a typical English style pub. The food and service was ok. We had to wait 20 minutes to order food and awhile for our bill as well. The bar wasn’t busy on a Saturday afternoon. There isn’t a patio which is unfortunate during the nice summer weather.

I find this place is very expensive... I think I am done here. Even beer... I don't feel comfortable paying $20 for 2 glasses of beer + tip. We get my own beer from the beer store with $20.

Great place in old Amherstburg to get a bite to eat or grab a drink. Lots of history to the building, ask the staff. Good Caesars.

We have been coming in to Lord Amherst since it first opened and have witnessed its slow decline. Current staff are polite, but somewhat aloof and don't seem to take the customer service industry seriously. The bar service was ok, but very basic (Bartender did not now how to make an Old Fashioned Cocktail and expressed he only knows how to make basic mixed drinks) A good selection of beer, and as of current they have introduced more selections of wines ( previously they only sold 2 local wines ). The menu has a good selection of English pub food, and although the selections are "good" there is nothing that stands out on the menu to rave to friends and family about. Good local pub, but not a "must visit" destination place.
